Where is this fireplace manufactured? How far does my couch have to be from the fireplace? My couch will be on the side wall of the fireplace wall. Do I need a blower? Does it come with an automatic remote start of do I have to manually ignite the pilot? Is there a lot of assembling to do when the fireplace is delivered?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on August 28, 2013
Answer:This fireplace is manufactured in Belleville, Illinois by Empire Comfort Systems. The unit must be at least 2 inches from any adjacent combustible material, including furniture. The blower will assist in circulating heat quickly into the room and is recommended if this fireplace is used for supplemental heating. The pilot light on this unit must be lit manually, but can remain lit after the initial setup. There is indeed a mild amount of assembly for the mantel, while the unit must only have the logs and embers positioned.

I am interested in the Vail 26 inch vent-free propane fireplace. Is it available in a white finish? I can't seem to find a picture of it in white. What are the dimensions? Also, I need the fireplace to be completely "electric free" since I plan to use it in the event of a power outage. Can you please respond.

Is it possible to vent a ventfree fireplace or do I need to purchase a separate, vented fireplace?

It is not possible to vent a ventless fireplace, but we do offer many vented gas fireplaces. To view the vented fireplaces we offer, please select "direct vent" or "B-vent" from the "Vent Type" filter along the left-hand side of this product category.

I wish to buy this product. I live in New Hampshire and need to know if the ventless fireplace will work with the building codes here. I also want to get it professionally installed.
By Tyler M. - Fireplace Specialist on January 24, 2013
Answer:We recommend contacting your local building inspector office for information regarding the legality of installing a vent-free appliance. For your reference, you may use the NFI (National Fireplace Institute) website to locate a local certified installer in your area. Their website is www.nficertified.org. Once there, just click on the "Public" link on the right hand side and enter your zip code. These technicians would also be able to advise on if a vent-free unit can be installed in your home.

Does this have glass doors?
By eFireplaceStore on September 24, 2014
Answer:It does not. Because this is a vent free unit, it will only have a safety screen. This allows heat transfer to occur between the unit and the room. Some vent free models will have a glass panel over the opening, but an air space remains between the panel and the fireplace front.

How long will the unit run on a 100 lb tank of propane?
By Tyler M. - NFI Certified Specialist on January 6, 2014
Answer:This fireplace has a BTU rating of 20,000, so it would take about four and a half hours of operation at maximum input for it to use one gallon of propane. As such, it would take over 450 hours of operation at maximum to deplete the 100 gallon tank.
By George from Croton on Hudson, NY on November 15, 2011
Do propane fireplaces operate with a 20 pound tank?
By Tyler M. - Fireplace Specialist on November 15, 2011
Answer:No, you will need a much bigger propane tank that is installed outside your home to operate a propane fireplace. You may want to look into purchasing a 40-gallon tank or possibly renting a 100-gallon tank.
