What is the difference between the Breckenridge Premium Peninsula and the Vail Premium Peninsula, besides price?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on March 3, 2014
Answer:The Breckenridge line of fireboxes are just vent free enclosures, without a log assembly or burner. A burner and log set of your choosing can be used in the box. This is handy if you do not care for the log sets that the manufacturer of the unit offers.
The Vail series is complete with a burner and log set and does not require any additional components to be used.

Does this fireplace have a remote control. If not, how do you turn it on and off?
By Chris C. on October 6, 2016
Answer:This is strictly a firebox capable of accepting most any manufacturer's vent free log set in a 24" size. The log set you choose to install into the firebox can indeed be remote compatible for ease of operation.

We are interested in purchasing this Empire Breckenridge peninsula gas firebox but we would like to elevate it a few inches rather tan place it directly on the ground. All of the images that I see of this unit show it on the ground. Is this an acceptable install method?
By Brennan W. on April 27, 2015
Answer:The fireplace can indeed be installed on an elevated hearth.

Is this firebox mobile home safe?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on October 15, 2012
Answer:The manufacturer of this box does not explicitly state that it can or cannot be used in a mobile home, but leaves the final decision to local authorities. Check with local code enforcement to verify any restrictions on using a vent free firebox in a mobile home in your area.

Can this be installed on an exterior wall to create an indoor / outdoor fireplace?
By Tyler M. - NFI Certified Specialist on May 8, 2013
Answer:Unfortunately, no. We do not offer any vent-free gas fireplaces that can be installed in an indoor/outdoor set up. We do offer outdoor models, and one outdoor see-thru model, but it is not meant for inside/outside installation. Since vent-free units have to be open to allow combustion air in the firebox, there would be no way to seal the unit and thus, the exterior of your home.

I want to put the fireplace in under a counter. Can I do this with this model?
By Will M. on July 12, 2016
Without knowing further details, I see no reason this could not be done so long as the clearances shown on pages 4-5 of the installation manual
Please note that a Wooden Mantel Top
and Wooden Mantel Base
are offered as optional accessories if you were not planning of framing this into an existing structure.
