Can this be installed outside on a deck? Can a tv be installed on top of it?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on March 3, 2014
This unit is not designed to be installed in an outdoor environment, as the firebox is manufactured of galvanized steel, which will not hold up to the weather over time. A true outdoor unit is the Alpine Outdoor 36 in. Natural Gas Vent Free Fireplace System
. This unit uses a completely stainless steel chassis, burner, and grate. These components will be able to stand up to the humid outdoor air, without degrading over time.
It is only recommended to install a television above a vent free unit if the television can be recessed into an alcove. Vent free models produce a great deal of heat, which will easily damage electronics above the unit.

Can this be installed so only 2 sides show? Is there any reason it cant be enclosed on the one short side ?
By Tyler M. - NFI Certified Specialist on September 16, 2013
This particular model must have three open sides. The Vail is also available as a two-sided, see-thru model
, but that unit must have both of the long sides open. There is no corner model version of the Vail available at this time. We apologize for this inconvenience.

I'm looking at installing this natural gas vent free unit in the mountains at approximately 8,250 foot elevation. Are there any issues with the pilot light going out at this altitude or is there an option for electronic ignition?
By eFireplaceStore on October 28, 2014
Answer:Unfortunately, electronic ignition is not an option with this vent free appliance. Pilot outages can occur at high altitudes, but the problem will be lessened if your local fuel supplier derates the gas supply.

Do any of your natural gas see thru fireplaces have the option to buy a blower besides the Napoleon model?
By Tyler M. - Fireplace Specialist on April 16, 2012
Answer:Yes, many of our see-through units do indeed have provisions to add an optional blower. Please let us know if you are interested in a direct vent or vent-free unit, and we would be happy to help you find a see-through unit that fits your application and budget. Simply reply to this email with this information, and we will be in touch.

I currently have a Vanguard model FBPS 36 inch peninsular vent free natural gas peninsula firebox. Will the screen inserts on your Vail premium 36 inch firebox fit the Vanguard I have ?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on June 26, 2012
Answer:Per the diagrams for both units, it would appear that the screen panels are approximately 1/2" narrower and 2" taller than the opening of your FBPS. There will also not be any mounting slots on the FBPS to attach the panels, so it will be necessary to modify the unit for the panels to work.
As I mentioned on your previous inquiry, a sheet metal fabricator could make the screens or they could modify the panels for the Vail unit to fit your model. Please let me know if I can assist you in any other way.
