Regarding the Custom Firescreen Spitfire Tube Fireplace Heater, does the blower direct heat into the room, or does the heat exit from the open ends of the tubes?
Regarding the Custom Firescreen Spitfire Tube Fireplace Heater, does the blower direct heat into the room, or does the heat exit from the open ends of the tubes?
The Spitfire heat exchanger utilizes both the blower and the tubes in conjunction. The blower does not directly push heat into the room. Instead, it is positioned outside the firebox and forces room air through a flexible tube into the heater's inlet. This air then circulates through the curved metal tubes located inside the fireplace, which are directly heated by the fire. The heated air is subsequently expelled from the open front ends of these tubes, extending beyond the fireplace opening, thereby warming the living space. Due to this design, the tubes must protrude from the fireplace, the blower unit must remain outside the firebox, and the heater should never be operated without the blower engaged. You can find a comprehensive visual guide in the Spitfire installation manual for the Custom Firescreen Spitfire Tube Fireplace Heater.
