That is a universal refractory panel for wood-burning units. Please keep in mind that your unit wasn't tested with that panel.

Will these Hargrove 40 Inch Replacement Fireplace Refractory Panels work for replacing the back and bottom panel of a Fireplace Manufacturers Incorporated - DG42C wood-burning fireplace?
Will these Hargrove 40 Inch Replacement Fireplace Refractory Panels work for replacing the back and bottom panel of a Fireplace Manufacturers Incorporated - DG42C wood-burning fireplace?
These Hargrove 40 Inch Replacement Fireplace Refractory Panels are designed as a universal, cut-to-fit solution rather than a pre-shaped kit for specific fireplace models. While they are not manufactured to precisely match the FMI DG42C, they are approved for manufactured wood-burning fireboxes like yours. The panels can be trimmed to size using a masonry or tile saw and can be used as back, side, or bottom panels. Each panel is approximately 1 inch thick, and the double pack provides enough material to cover both a back and a bottom panel in most wood-burning fireboxes. I was unable to find specific information for the DG42C model. To ensure the best fit, could you please locate the data plate inside your fireplace and provide the model number along with your zip code?

Yes, these are aftermarket replacement refractory panels designed to be installed in pre-fabricated wood-burning fireplaces, even when a set of logs is installed.

I would recommend

I bought a masonry blade, and the panels cut easily enough. Put the old panels on top of the new ones to trace where the cut area is needed. Installation was pretty easy as the panels slip into place and are held there by brackets, even though they are a 1/4 inch thicker, they fit in just fine. As they are heavy, they can be delivered on a pallet. One was chipped a bit, but as I cut them anyway, I could leave that chip as part of the throwaway piece, so no issue.

Pros

Fairly easy to cut

Cons

The old panels have metal wire in them where the new ones do not. Very heavy

All good now!

Needed refractory panels for a discontinued natural fireplace insert. Was able to order these blanks and cut out my own. Panels were packaged with great care, and arrived with no damage.

Easy!

Purchase, shipment(w/needed lift gate for more than 1 panel), cutting, and install worked perfectly. Shipping is well package and would take shipper negligence for the panels to break. Cutting was done easily with a battery powered circular saw and Diamond/Masonry blade(lots of dust do outside!!) Followed the rest of the directions included for use and we are now up and running. Easy! Highly recommend!!
