I am having the empire Tahoe deluxe 42" fireplace installed with the mission doors. Would this outer frame fit with those attached?

This trim would go around the perimeter of the fireplace, not the actual doors. The doors would require a separate frame.

This is not a universal frame kit and we can only advise that it will only work with these Empire fireplace/firebox models:
For use with 42" models of the following:
- Breckenridge Deluxe fireboxes
- Tahoe Deluxe, Premium, and Luxury fireplaces
- Keystone Premium fireplaces

What is the width of each piece of trim? How big of a gap will this trim cover?

Per the manufacturer, this trim kit will have a width of 2.5" per trim section. Because of the way it is mounted upon the unit, it will cover an additional 1.5" beyond the edge.

I would recommend this item to a friend.
Cleans up the finish of a flush fireplace
Our fireplaces are mounted flush to the wall and they just did not look complete. In addition, we struggled to find a finish that went to the edge of the fireplace to clean it up. These frame completed the fireplace and made them look 100% better. Easy 2 minute install with 6 screws. Now I can complete my finish with these added frames.

Would have bought the 4 piece that would finish it on the bottom but could not find it available
