Does the screen hang in front of or behind the glass? It does not seem to be much of a safety feature behind the glass.

The screen attaches to the front glass to prevent any accidental contact with the hot glass. The barrier does not get installed behind the front glass as this would not be very effective.

This is the correct screen for your fireplace, and you will indeed need to remove the glass to install the screen.

Will these work with other fireplace brands? We have a Lennox that has no safety screen. It was a feature of the house when built in 2012. We have kids and would like to add protection.

These are only meant to be used with certain Empire brand fireplaces.

How does this barrier screen attach to the fireplace? What mounting hardware is included with barrier screen?

With this or any other of the Empire barrier screens shown on our site, there would be no hardware needed as installation of the screen involves removal of the front glass included with the corresponding 36" direct vent fireplaces made by Empire that we also offer. The barrier will have hook-shaped flanges on the back of the metal frame that hook on to the front glass. Once the front glass is put back in place, the barrier is secured to the fireplace front.

Empire Short Fireplace Barrier Screen
eFireplaceStore received, process and shipped our order promptly. Installation instructions were included and the unit was simple to install - This should keep the grandkids from getting too close to the hot glass and keep them safe. Great product and customer service!
