Can I use this hearth extension as an insulation board on a floor with a 1/4" cement board and tile underneath a small wood stove? What are the exact dimensions of the 44-inch size?
This hearth extension is specifically designed for Empire Blackburn fireplaces, and we cannot confirm its suitability as floor protection under a different appliance like a freestanding wood stove. The required hearth pad thickness, R-value, and clearance for a wood stove are determined by the stove's installation manual; please consult it for specific floor protection requirements. Regarding dimensions, Empire does not publish exact outer dimensions for the 36-inch or 44-inch options, as these are tailored for the Blackburn fireplace. Only the 54-inch option has published outer dimensions: 55 inches long by 21 inches wide by 2 inches thick.
