Is there an actual a flame, like there is in a gas fireplace?

This unit has no actual flame. Rather, it uses a heating element, similar to a space heater. In addition, the unit will have a rotating drum with a backlight, which will give the illusion of a real fire.

I am very interested in this fireplace. I am very fond of the glass rocks that are available for gas fireplaces. Does the crystalline ember bed resemble the glass rock in gas fireplaces? In your opinion, is the crystalline ember bed or regular electric log more attractive?

Indeed, the glass ember bed in this fireplace is very similar to those featured in some gas units. The superiority of this glass kit to a unit that includes a log set would be personal preference. In fact, the decision may lie more heavily on the current decor in your home. If your home has a modern feel, then the glass will be perfect. However, a more traditional home would benefit from a fireplace with a log assembly.
