What's the difference between Crown Coat and Crown Seal? They both seem to do the same job.
    1 Answer
Yes, these are very similar products. The primary difference is that this CrownCoat is better suited for cold applications, as it can be applied in conditions down to -40 degrees Fahrenheit. CrownSeal, on the other hand, cannot be applied below 45 degrees Fahrenheit, but it is also pre-mixed and remains permanently flexible.

Can brushable Crown Coat be used on vertical surfaces also?

    Yes it can.

Absolutely, but instead of only using a brush, I'd have a mason's trowel at the ready, along with an attempt of covering any of the lower horizontal areas you don't mean to cover with drop cloths and masking tape. It's pretty viscus, and should stay in place, depending on the thickness you apply. I believe the directions call for two coats. You may have to apply "slightly thinner than recommended" coats than directed, to prevent slumping and excessive dripping of the sealant, but each coat dries fairly quickly. I'd just apply thinner coats, but more of them to achieve the proper thickness and rate of coverage.

    This stuff works!
After getting soaked through for years and damaging my brick porch, I sealed my 100-year-old limestone porch cap with Masonry Fireplace Sealant and it repels all the rainwater now. Highly recommended.

    Definitely Stops Chimney Leakage!
This product was fairly pricey, but it really does work very well. I watched a video on YouTube to learn how to apply it correctly, and I was able to do the job easily. I used it on the very top of my chimney, and it stopped leaks for several years, but they ended up coming back. I used this product again a little lower on the chimney, and now I?m happy to say that there are no more leaks!

    My Chimney is Dry Now
My chimney crown had a few fairly long cracks, and it was letting water run into my fireplace. I applied some silicone caulk to the cracks in the fireplace, but before that I brushed away any loose debris. I let it set over a couple of days, and then I applied two coats of the crown coat like the instructions indicated. My inner chimney is very dry now, even after a few rain storms. The outer look of my chimney is also a lot better too.

    I love this product!
I purchased this product about a year ago, and I believe that it is a remarkably great product. I used it to seal up my concrete chimney crown. Application was simple. The instructions were straight forward.

I was worried, but it works!
I was able to install this product just as the instructions stated, and it seems to be doing a great job so far. It is relatively thick, but it is also paintable. I?ve had it on for about a month, so I can?t comment on how long it will last. So far, I am pleased.

    Easy Product To Use
I?m so happy I purchased this product. It has done wonders for my chimney crown! It was super easy to use ? just following the instructions included with your purchase. First spray water lightly onto the chimney crown, and then use a paint brush to add a thin coat. Next, use a pointed trowel to put on a thicker coat. Then, use a paintbrush to smooth it all out. It helps to add a little water in your paintbrush too. You?ll definitely want to make sure that the crown is clean and free of dust and debris. The product becomes very hard once it has cured. It works effectively to water proof your chimney crown, and it looks good too.
