This pad is designed to prevent any hearth rugs (including wool rugs) from sliding on hardwood, tile, and stone floors. It should be fine for your application.

Is this a fireproof fireplace rug?
This is not completely fireproof. As well, this is just a non-skid pad for a hearth rug. Our hearth rugs are going to be fire-resistant, but not completely fireproof.

Is this skid pad fireproof?
The pad material does not meet the same surface flammability standards as the hearth rugs themselves. However, the flame resistant nature of the rug will prevent any direct contact of embers or sparks with the material below.
