What is the efficiency of this Napoleon EPI3TN wood burning insert?
By Brennan W. on May 26, 2015
Answer:The efficiency of this unit will depend on the type of wood used, the time the wood is allowed to season, and the way in which you start your fires. While we can not pinpoint a specific efficiency rating, however, this unit will indeed provide a great amount of heat while using less wood than a standard fireplace due to the nature of a closed combustion insert.

Will this insert work without electricity during a blackout?
By eFireplaceStore on October 6, 2014
Answer:This unit can indeed be burned in the event of a power failure. The blower is only meant to increase thermal efficiency and it is not a requirement to use the blower when burning the unit.

We are contemplating a fireplace insert. I like the one above, but our dimensions are 33" wide, 31" high and 21" deep. Can you make any recommendations that would work in that size box?
By Tyler M. - NFI Certified Specialist on December 9, 2013
This insert will indeed fit inside your fireplace. Please confirm your dimensions again and check them against those listed on page 9 of the owner's manual

We will decide on a woodstove insert before winter! We have a metal, Majestic fireplace. The box is about 37" (tapered to 24" at back) x 20" with metal framing/panels that are 47" x 36". Our glass folding doors are 42" x 23". Would the Napoleon EP13TN insert work for us? The family room is about 273 square feet with the ceiling rising to 12 feet. The rest of our very open first floor of our two story home is about 827 square feet. The total of the first floor is about 1100 square feet. Can you tell us about Napoleon's warranty and reputation, please?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on November 11, 2013
Answer:This unit may indeed fit your Majestic fireplace, however I will need to have you verify that the unit has a metal smoke deflector that can be removed to gain additional clearance. As it stands, the unit will need about 1 1/2 inches of additional opening height to fit properly. The BTU output of this unit would be ideal to heat your space, especially if ceiling fans can be used to circulate the heat.
Napoleon makes excellent wood burning stove and inserts, with great attention to finish and detail. Their quality of materials used in construction is very good as well. Napoleon warrants most parts of the unit for the duration that you own the appliance. Only gaskets and blowers are not covered under the lifetime warranty and these will be warranted for a period of 1 year.

What is the maximum length that can be used in this insert?
By Mike from Kansas City on November 16, 2013
My opening is actually 42 1/2" by 29 1/2" tall. Is there a way to make this unit work? Could I block up a bit from below to close the gap?
By Chris on November 17, 2013
You could also add the 3 Sided Backer Plate
to cover the additional space left by the surround.

What size logs can I use with this unit? What is the highest BTU rating?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on March 25, 2014
Answer:Expected BTU rating for this model is 55,000, however slightly higher or lower outputs are possible, based on the type of wood burned, moisture content, and your fire building skills. The unit is rated to handle an 18 inch log.

Can this unit be equipped with a gas starter?
By eFireplaceStore on October 20, 2014
Answer:Because of the small firebox used in this insert and the air tight design, a log lighter should not be installed. However, firebox temperatures are much higher than in an open faced model and a log lighter is really not needed.

18 inches was given length as the length for firewood. Is this for side to side or for front to back ?
By Brennan W. on February 27, 2017
Answer:This measurement is side to side.
