By eFireplaceStore on December 21, 2015

    Answer:
This unit comes with a small amount of topaz colored 1/4 inch glass pieces. However, you can add tempered fire glass in a color of your choosing.

I have a question about this wall mount gas fireplace. Which face does it comes with? Is gas fireplace and requires natural gas line?

By Sabra from Charlotte, NC on November 29, 2013
I would like to install inside of a wall nook so that the unit is flush with the wall. Would this be a safety issue? Is this type of installation recommended?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on November 29, 2013

    Answer:
Unfortunately, this sort of installation is not recommended. The unit circulates its heat to the room through a pair of catalytic vents in the top of the chassis. Because a great deal of heat is released through the vents, they must not be confined in any way. As such, the unit can only hang flat on a wall.

By Blaze from Utah on January 30, 2014
How large of a room will this comfortably heat to 68 degrees Fahrenheit? I have a 9 ft. ceiling.
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on January 30, 2014

    Answer:
This unit would be able to effectively heat a space of 220 square feet, with a 9 foot ceiling.

By Mark from St. Paul, MN on September 21, 2013
I have an old wall mounted gas heater built in that I want to replace with a modern flame heater. Is this a good option and can I install it myself?
By Tyler M. - NFI Certified Specialist on September 23, 2013

    Answer:
Yes, installation of this and our other vent-free wall-mounted fireplaces is as simple as hanging a large picture frame. Please see
the owner's manual for full installation instructions.

By Geert from St Pete, FL on September 27, 2014
Is this a natural gas fireplace? Also, do you have a larger model for a living room that is the same or has a similar design?

By eFireplaceStore on September 29, 2014

    Answer:
This unit is available in natural gas and LP varieties. We do have a larger model that falls into the same series. This unit is the Napoleon WHVF31 Plasmafire Wall-Mounted Vent-Free Gas Fireplace. This unit uses a flat surround for all versions, save for the stainless steel option, which uses a convex design like the WHVF24.

By Claudia from El Paso, TX on November 13, 2014
I am interested in this fireplace. It is for an area that does not have any other heat source. Will this be enough for a 450 square feet room?

By eFireplaceStore on November 14, 2014

    Answer:
The output of this model will be a bit low for the area you are heating. On average, the BTU rating will only be sufficient for 250 square feet. However, the Napoleon WHVF31 Plasmafire Wall-Mounted Vent-Free Gas Fireplace is a larger version that will have the ability to heat the space.

By Rob from TX on May 11, 2015
What is the total shipping weight of this Napoleon WHVF24 vent free Plazmafire fireplace?
    By Brennan W. on May 12, 2015

The shipping weight of this unit is 59 pounds.

Will this unit work if there is an electrical power outage?
    By Brennan W. on January 20, 2017

    Answer:
This will indeed work in a power outage.

By Randy from Cuba, MO on July 12, 2014
Can this be mounted on a sheetrock wall, and is this a complete unit less screws?
By eFireplaceStore on July 14, 2014

    Answer:
This appliance can indeed be mounted to a sheet rock wall and only requires clearance to overhead, adjacent, and below obstructions. The unit is complete and only requires that you supply the fasteners and anchors to attach it to the wall.
By Gaston from Frederic, MD on July 14, 2014

    Answer:
I have mine installed directly on drywall ,(make sure you find the studs in the wall). The heat output is coming out from the top rather than from the front. So there is not significant amount of heat radiating to the back wall, just follow the installation guidelines for installation and you will be fine and happy with the unit.

During last winter, my main fireplace stop working, so this little unit saved us from the cold. Since I have it installed in our master bedroom, the 9000 btu's produced were enough to keep us warm.

Note: you need a minimum of 20" clearance between the fireplace top and the ceiling.
By Regina from New Jersey on July 14, 2014

    Answer:
Yes, we have it hanging on a sheetrock wall. It is a complete unit EXCEPT for the separate gas line that you must have available at the location you are hanging this unit.
By Ray from VA on July 14, 2014

    Answer:
I think this could be mounted on Drywall. I mounted mine with four standoffs made with one inch tubing. The unit was complete, but make sure the gas line installer knows how much space you are dealing with so they use the correct fitting.
By Karen from Madison, CT on July 14, 2014

    Answer:
Yes it can be mounted onto sheet rock. My construction guys are mounting it this week.
By Susan from Elgin, OL on July 14, 2014

    Answer:
Yes this unit can be mounted on sheet rock. I don't remember if it came with screws or not. My family is in construction so if it's not there or if we prefer something more substantial, we just modify. The company should be able to tell you more about the screws and mollies.

By Meg from West Virginia on October 17, 2013
Does this unit have a thermostat or remote?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on October 17, 2013

    Answer:
It does not. This model uses a variable flame height control valve, however the operation of the valve is fully manual.

By Joel from Naples, FL on September 15, 2013
How much does this weigh? If I am using propane, what size tank is the smallest that can be used? Is it a black colored front surround (the video shows black) or aluminum colored front (the display picture shows silverfish)? Are the front surrounds metal? Are mounting screws not provided?
By Tyler M. - NFI Certified Specialist on September 16, 2013

    Answer:
This fireplace weighs 52 lbs. The manufacturer does not list a minimum propane tank size requirement, but the unit is rated at 9,000 BTUs, which means it will burn through about one gallon of propane every 10 hours of operation on high. Yes, the front surrounds are metal. The mounting screws are not supplied; these can be obtained at a local hardware store.

By Robert Bucy from Asheville, NC on November 14, 2016
    Is this product thermostatically controlled?

By Charlie from Kosciusko, MS on July 1, 2015
What is the total width, with the surround, of this Napoleon WHVF24 vent-free hanging Plazmafire fireplace? Is the surround included with this fireplace? My room has a sun porch of 288 square feet. Would this unit work for me?
    By Will M. on July 1, 2015

    Answer:
A 22" H x 32 3/8" W surround will be included with the fireplace. Looking at the picture you've provided, the WHVF24 would need to be installed at least 10" above the floor and 7" from a side wall per the information on page 12 of the installation manual. For the space you have described, you would need 10,080 BTU's to effectively heat the space and this model produces up to 9,000 Btu. It can heat around 250 square feet and you have 288, however, there is no wall mount fireplace that would produce up to 10,000 BTU, so this would be our recommendation.

I am looking for a propane, ventless, catalytic fireplace to replace my electric fireplace in my RV.
    By Brennan W. on January 13, 2017

    Answer:
This unit is only approved for use in a mobile home that is permanently located.

By Gordon from Gleneden Beach, Oregon on December 24, 2013
Can a flat screen TV be mounted above this unit?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on December 26, 2013

    Answer:
Because all heat generated by this model is released from the catalytic heat exchangers on the top of the unit, I do not recommend mounting a television above it without a protective mantel shelf or the television being recessed into the wall to allow heat to pass in front of it.

By Garry from Detroit, MI on October 19, 2015
Does the pictured surround come with this Napoleon WHVF24 vent free hanging gas Plazmafire fireplace with catalytic tiles?
    By Tyler M. on October 19, 2015

    Answer:
Yes, the surround pictured with the fireplace is standard and included with this model.

By Ian from Bethlehem, PA on December 26, 2013
Can this run on propane? Can this run during a power cut?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on December 26, 2013

    Answer:
This unit is indeed available for natural gas and propane. The fuel type can be selected from the drop down menu on the item page. The valve is a manual type with a standing pilot. As such, it can be used as a backup heat source or in an application where power is not available.

By Aubrey from ID on February 3, 2015
Does this model have a thermostat with an automatic auto on/off function?
By eFireplaceStore on February 3, 2015

    Answer:
Unfortunately, no. This particular unit is only available with a manual controlled safety pilot valve.
By Lindsay from RI on February 3, 2015

    Answer:
No, it doesn't. The on and off function is manual.
By Steven from Mount Pleasant, SC on February 3, 2015

    Answer:
No, it does not have a thermostat.

By Ian from Bethlehem, PA on December 26, 2013
Does this fireplace come with a blower?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on December 26, 2013

    Answer:
Due to the design of this unit, it does not have provisions for a blower to be used.

By Clayton from Portland, OR on November 11, 2014
Can this unit be mounted onto a wall that has been paneled with wood tongue and groove? Specifically, 5/8ths by 5 inch painted pine T/G?
By eFireplaceStore on November 12, 2014

    Answer:
It can indeed. The product can be mounted to any flat combustible wall, regardless of the finishing material.

By Tom from Atlanta, GA on October 20, 2015
Does this Napoleon WHVF24 vent free hanging gas Plazmafire fireplace with catalytic tiles need to connect to an electrical power source?
    By Will M. on October 20, 2015

    Answer:
This model features a manually-controlled safety pilot valve for operation and does not require voltage. The standing pilot flame generates all of the millivoltage needed for operation.
By Tim from Gloucester, VA on October 20, 2015

    Answer:
No. All you need is a gas line hook up and nothing electrical. I love my fireplace!
By Keith from VA on October 21, 2015

    Answer:
No. Mine is hooked up to a propane line only.

By James from MI on August 11, 2013
Does this unit require 110 volt electric connection? If it does, how much power does it draw and does it draw it only when igniting the pilot?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on August 14, 2013

    Answer:
Per the manufacturer, this item is a standing (millivolt) type of pilot and will not require external power to operate.

By Ken from Manchester, TN on December 4, 2016
Does this come in 6500 BTU or less?
    By Will M. on December 5, 2016

    Answer:
A lower BTU version of this system is not available.

By Gregory from PA on January 29, 2014
Can this be hooked up to an external propane line? My tanks sit out in back of my house and the line is run into the living room. Will this work for this unit?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on January 29, 2014

    Answer:
This unit can indeed be fueled from an existing feed line, as long as the line meets the sizing requirements needed and a pressure regulator is used to step incoming gas pressure down to the requirements for the unit.

I cannot tell you how thrilled my family and I are with this gorgeous fireplace. It's beautiful and practical and looks terrific in the limited amount of space we had to use. It puts out the perfect amount of heat in my beach house sunroom. We live in the mid-Atlantic region where we get all kinds of cold weather in late autumn, winter and early spring. It was so easy to install. It was really easy to order and was shipped the same day and received a few days after. I would HIGHLY recommend everything about the Napoleon Plazmafire WHVF24N.

I would recommend this item to a friend.
The fireplace is beautiful and will heat up a good size room, 280 sq ft as long as you do not have cathedral ceilings and 3 walls of windows. We have a converted 3 seasons room and 9,000 btus is just not high enough to keep it toasty when around 20 degrees or below. We had a Procom 20,000 btu fireplace before this one, which heated up not only that room but the bottom 1/3 of our home. Unfortunately you can no longer buy them. It looked the same as this only it had a rich cherry front with the fireplace behind glass. The design is gorgeous in both. Maybe you can make one with a higher btu!!!
    Pros:
Beautiful design and a lovely flame.
    Cons:
Not enough btus, 20,000 would be better and an option for a wood front instead of steel.
