I am building a new house on the intercoastal waterway in Wilmington, NC, and want a wood-burning fireplace that can be converted to gas when I get too old. I like the look of the Majestic Biltmore. Can this be converted to gas?
The Majestic Biltmore can have a gas log set installed into the firebox in the future. A gas line would need to be installed during the installation phase of the fireplace. The outside air kit would need to be installed onto this fireplace to help prevent any backdraft issues with the smoke due to the tight construction.

What sort of Chimney does the Biltmore fireplace require and what diameter is it?
The only chimney pipe suitable for use with this Biltmore fireplace is the SL1100 double-wall pipe with an 11-inch inside diameter and a 13-inch outside diameter.

Huge fireplace but not totally happy
The ceramic stone inserts were generally in good condition but the left panel had fairly bad paint on the edges. The lower bad corner cracked when it was gently sat down during installation which is very frustrating. Install was fairly straightforward with pretty good instructions. Haven’t lit the first fire yet.
